History

The Old Owen’s Association was established for the past pupils of Dame Alice Owen’s School at a time when the school was still based in Islington, and the Old Owen’s Sports Club was based in Chandos Avenue, Whetstone. Following the school’s move to Potters Bar, the Association moved homes from Whetstone to its current grounds at Coopers Lane Road and bought the ground and a clubhouse was built, along with a groundsman’s or manager’s bungalow.

The ground covers some thirteen acres and provides facilities and social events for Old Owen's Association members, Old Owen’s Football Club, Old Owen’s Cricket Club, Potters Bar Town Football Club and a number of other associated clubs. Mr John and Mrs Lynn Clark took over as new managers on 1st July 2010 and have been busy planning and implementing a series of events, encouraging members to maximise use of their own Clubhouse, either for their team or their friends and families. John says, "We'd like to reach out to all Old Owen's members located near and far from their Clubhouse through sporting and social events to ensure all feel they are welcome and can use the facilities".

Today, the Clubhouse is also used by affiliated clubs and their members and is available to the general public for weddings, birthdays, other celebrations and general get-together's. In addition it is available for meetings and is currently used by "The Potters Bar Round Table", "The 41-Club" and "The Potters Bar Rotary Club". Chair of the Old Owen's Association, Mr Tim Lane, says that Old Owen's are committed to supporting the new managers in their roles and look forward to a sustained period of growth.
