School Day
Our normal school day starts at 8.45 am. Students have fifteen minutes Tutor Time/Assembly Time every morning. Assemblies take place twice a week for each year group – one is a Year Assembly and the other is a half-school Assembly. We have five 1-hour lessons per day, with 5 minutes between lessons to allow for movement. There is a morning break of fifteen minutes and lunch break is from 12.35 pm to 1.35 pm. Buses are sometimes scheduled to run at the earlier times and students will be notified by the school office via the Form Tutors, the day before, which ones will be running. It depends on different bus companies schedules and the availability of their drivers as to whether or not they can come at the earlier times. Parents can contact the school office (admin@damealiceowens.herts.sch.uk) the day before the end of a half term/full term if they wish to confirm bus arrangements.
Please note, the Governors do NOT approve of holidays taken during a school term, and permission for absence will not normally be given unless there is family illness etc. Any requests for absence in school time MUST be made in writing to the Head or the Head of Student Progress well in advance, indicating the exceptional circumstances.
