Secondary Transfer Admissions Information

1st March 2016

Your Local Authority will inform you of the school your child has been allocated.

If you gave Dame Alice Owen’s School a higher preference than the school you were allocated you will automatically continue to be considered for a place at Dame Alice Owen’s School up until the end of the summer term.  If you wish to be considered for a place beyond this date you will need to make a fresh In Year application for Year 7 via Hertfordshire County Council. 

SECONDARY TRANSFER SEPTEMBER 2017 (Year 5 children from September 2015)

 If you wish to register your child for our Entrance Examination and/or Musical Aptitude Tests  you need to:-

  • Read our Admissions Arrangements for 2017/18 – these will be available to view on the school website from March 2016.
  • Ensure your Child’s permanent address is within one of the Local Priority Areas (LPAs) detailed below.Children who live outside of these LPAs are not eligible to sit our tests or be considered for a place under our academic/music criteria.
  • Ensure your child is available for the dates of the tests. Key Dates will be published on the school website by the end of the Autumn term.  Dates are not yet confirmed but are currently provisionally arranged as follows:
  • 1st September 2016 (English and Maths), 2nd  September 2016 (Musical aptitude) and 3rd September 2016 (Verbal Reasoning). Please keep referring to the website for confirmed dates. PLEASE NOTE WE GIVE AS MUCH NOTICE AS POSSIBLE OF OUR TEST DATES AS WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER ALTERNATIVE DATES TO FAMILIES WHO CHOOSE TO TAKE THEIR HOLIDAYS ON THESE DATES.
  • Complete the online Test Registration Form -available on the school website during the period 12th May – 9th June 2016 (provisional).  Please note we are unable to accept Test Registrations after this date.

In order to register for our Entrance Exam and/or Music Tests your child’s permanent home address must be within one of the listed areas below by the date of registration. Children from outside of these areas are not eligible to be considered under these criteria and therefore cannot take our tests.
