Extra Activities
Our school provides great opportunities outside the classroom with a thriving social and extra-curricular side to Sixth Form life. The Sixth Form Centre provides a Common Room with vending machines and the Self Access Learning Centre (SALC), an area for silent study, independent work and research. We have a dedicated Sixth Form dining room and there are close links with the Old Owen’s Sports Club in Potters Bar (which one sixth former helpfully described as Owen’s own pub!).

We also have an active Duke of Edinburgh scheme in operation and run residential trips and journeys abroad, related to the curriculum, which you can take advantage of, as well as participating in the World Challenge, travelling to countries as far afield as India and China. Our school also has a link school in Tanzania, to which a biennial trip is made by upper school students.
Drama and Music are both strengths of our school with regular outstanding productions taking place, for which there are open auditions and in which new students have played leading roles. New students to the Sixth Form have also captained the school’s first XI football team and acted as senior prefects. In addition to these activities, Sixth Formers organise events such as the annual Fashion Show and a tandem sky-dive, which raise a significant amount of money for charity. |

Sixth Formers have the opportunity to participate in debating and edit The Arrow magazine, which is published exclusively by a Sixth Form Team and goes on sale to parents and students at our Open Afternoon in July. As a general rule, we will try to support you with any appropriate extra curricular activities that you would like to establish at our school.
Many such avenues are open to you in the Sixth Form, as well as continued participation in the musical, theatrical and sporting activities with which you may be more familiar. See also Leadership Roles. Back to top |
